Lite Fork
The Lite Fork is the newest addition to the Aero Garage Lightweight Tailwheel Group. At only 7oz installed weight, the Lite Fork is 10oz lighter than the next-lightest fork available.
Aside from the weight savings, the Lite Fork is in a league of its own with its sleek profile, increased ground clearance, and increased rudder fairing clearance.
-Fork-body machined from billet aluminum on our 5-axis mill. It is low profile, and designed to perfectly nest a DJM lightweight tailwheel. (Available in matching colors from the Aero Garage). The fork uses integrated bearing bosses which eliminate the need to shim the wheel with finicky washers.
-Spindle shaft turned and milled from titanium for additional weight savings and corrosion resistance.
-Included titanium axle is thru-drilled for weight savings and drag reduction. It will accept a pin style tow bar rather than necessitating pegs hanging out in the wind.
(Tow bar pin-adapters are available separately to easily adapt existing tow bars).
-The fork uses an engineered-plastic thrust washer to minimize wear on the anodized aluminum surface. Included with each fork is 4 thrust washers of varying thickness. These washers can be interchanged to account for manufacturing variations in tailwheel yoke, steering arms, etc. Once you know your size, replacement washers are available to keep your steering smooth and precise for years to come.
-Nyloc panheads capture a low-profile titanium top cap to help prevent rudder fairing damage on tail-heavy landings.
-Includes a replacement locking pin and spring
Standard size fits Vans OEM FSTW or any direct replacement for the OEM yoke.
“Legacy AP” size is compatible with the Aviation Products Tailwheel yokes and can replace the single or double sided forks. AP Forks are made to order and may require additional turn around time.
Note: Black anodizing is prone to fading with prolonged UV exposure. Black parts may see a transformation to a iridescent bronze or grey color with time.
